La Mesa is a city within the general San Diego area. It has its own excellent school district and police department. You could say La Mesa has its own cultural vibe. With the median home price starting at $566,900. This is slightly more affordable than the City of San Diego and the median rent is $2645/month. With the rent being this high you may want to consider buying and locking in your house payment for the next 30 years. My favorite places to visit in La Mesa is Lake Murray. I have spent many hours walking around this beautiful and picturesque urban lake. People come to this lake to walk, fish, feed the ducks and varied birds just enjoy the natural beauty. Minutes from Lake Murray is Mission Trails Park. With over 5,800 acres of rural land with rugged hills and canyon, it’s is the largest city park in California. Even though it is the middle of the city it is a hiker’s or mountain biker’s paradise. With an abundance of natural environment, including deer, coyotes and an occasional sitting of a cougar. Getting back to city life La Mesa has one of the Best October festivals I have been to and people come from all over San Diego to visit this event. If you looking for great small restaurant LA Mesa Blvd has become the place to visit. For a regional open shopping mall, you will find the Grossmont Center. will find Walmart, Macy's and Target.
